Visa categories
The appropriate option depends on your passport, purpose of travel, intended stay and personal circumstances.
Visitor visa — Tourist stream
Subclass 600 for eligible visitors travelling for tourism, a cruise or to visit family and friends.
Sponsored Family stream
A subclass 600 pathway for eligible visitors sponsored by an eligible Australian family member; a security bond may be requested.
Business Visitor stream
For eligible short business visits such as meetings, negotiations or conferences. It does not generally allow work in Australia.
Approved Destination Status stream
For eligible citizens of the People’s Republic of China travelling with an approved tour group.
Frequent Traveller stream
A subclass 600 stream for eligible passport holders who travel regularly for business or personal reasons. Eligibility depends on current country and application requirements.
ETA and eVisitor options
Eligible passport holders may be able to use an Electronic Travel Authority (601) or eVisitor (651) instead of subclass 600.
