{"id":2034,"date":"2026-09-01T23:58:43","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T23:58:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/happymigration.com.au\/new-instrument-for-child-visa-applications-commences\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T23:58:43","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T23:58:43","slug":"new-instrument-for-child-visa-applications-commences","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/happymigration.com.au\/en_au\/new-instrument-for-child-visa-applications-commences\/","title":{"rendered":"New Instrument for Child Visa Applications Commences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/migrationalliance.com.au\/images\/easyblog_images\/5725\/2e1ax_bubbles_frontpage_Pakistan-flag-on-a-suitcase.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A new legislative instrument governing the lodgement of certain Child visa applications has been registered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The <em>Migration (Arrangements for Child Visa Applications) Instrument 2026<\/em> (LIN 26\/081) repeals and replaces the <em>Arrangements for Child Visa Applications 2016\/051<\/em>, which was due to sunset on 1 October 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The new instrument commences on 2 September 2026 and specifies the approved form, manner and place for applications for:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Child (Migrant) (Class AH) visas;<\/li>\n<li>Child (Residence) (Class BT) visas; and<\/li>\n<li>Extended Temporary (Class TK) visas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The instrument also continues the restrictions affecting Child visa applications based on certain overseas adoptions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Pakistan remains the only specified country, with no limit on the relevant adoption period. Accordingly, an application for a Child (Migrant) or Child (Residence) visa will not be valid where the applicant seeks to satisfy the relevant visa criteria by claiming to have been adopted in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Transitional arrangements apply to applications received at an address specified under the former instrument.
